This six hour hands-on introduction to marine diesel class will provide an overview of tools for the basic mechanics, and what they’re used for, and a basic overview of how an engine works from fuel intake to exhaust output, and everything in between. The course is taught in easy to understand segments designed for those who may have never picked up a ratchet, or checked the oil of an engine before. We will cover the key parts and function of the engine, general maintenance, and basic diagnostics, including:
* fuel system comprehension and basic servicing
* raw water systems, impellers, and heat exchangers
* cooling water systems
* lubrication systems, and checking oil/ filters
The most used tools, key engine parts, and two Yanmar engine models (2YM20, and 3JH2 series) will be used for participants to work with and practice skills and procedures.
The intro title of my slides is
“WTF? A semi-feral girl’s intro to diesels”
What is that?
Am I going to break anything I touch?
Is it going to hurt me?
Does that look right?
That doesn’t smell right, does that smell right?
Does that sound right? Seriously, that can’t sound right.
