As Robin Williams said, “In the dictionary under redundant it says ‘see redundant’” … though AMG is reluctant to return to speak again about the FINE PRINT in contracts, it is a necessary evil. In this session, we’ll give you the cliff notes related to contracts you’ll sign as a boat owner once again. Are you under contract to build a boat? Let’s talk about how the build contract works, how surveys work in your favor, how a standard ‘yacht as cargo’ contract works if you are shipping your boat and if you’re not shipping it but moving it under it’s own power, how a Captain/Crew contract should work. We’ll review typical marina and boatyard contracts including for dockage, storage, refit and repair (including DIY). You might want to understand how a yacht broker/boat dealer contract can impact your cost and your representation. We know you’re not worried about getting rescued or needing a tow but do you understand towing, salvage and wreck removal contracts? Perhaps you are just concerned about how insurance contracts work … we’ll certainly cover this topic also. This session will at least shine a flashlight on the contractual issues with marine insurance.
