Have you ever felt that your cruising sailboat was slow, or that you had to motor too much?  Maybe you’re not quite sure which sail controls to tweak to improve the boat’s performance. This class is designed for sailors of all levels who’d like to improve their understanding and skills to make their boats sail faster, more efficiently, and more comfortably.

Captains Lisa & Andy Batchelor, writers of 5 ASA textbooks, lead you through the factors affecting sailboat speed and balance. They’ll explore different sail configurations, sail controls, and heavy weather tactics for cruising monohulls and catamarans.

Learn the fundamentals for achieving optimal boat speed and balance.  Learn about different types of sails and their relative advantages. Master the why and how of sail twist. Understand how true and apparent wind affects your sail trim, and how that trim varies when sailing upwind, downwind, or reaching. Most importantly, learn how to achieve that optimal trim with your sail controls.

After this seminar, you will be itching to get out on the water to experiment with new sail trim techniques.
