Offshore, off-grid, extended remote cruising demands a higher level of seamanship than inland or coastal cruising, where conditions are less predictable and self-reliance is essential. This class covers the practical skills and decision-making that experienced cruisers use at sea, including watchstanding, heavy-weather tactics, sail handling strategies, fatigue management, and maintaining situational awareness far from land. We’ll also discuss how to anticipate problems before they become emergencies and how good seamanship ties together navigation, boat handling, and crew management to keep passages safe, efficient, and enjoyable.
