Solar energy is an excellent power source for both sailboats and powerboats, but choosing the right panel size and pairing it with the necessary components for a high-performance system can be a daunting task.
This seminar is divided into two parts: capturing the power of the sun, energy storage in the battery bank and then case studies of installing solar on your boat. We will begin by addressing the basics of marine solar technology including solar panels, solar controllers and battery storage.
This discussion by practical application as we use attendees’ boats to discuss installation, including mounting panels, wiring the system, programming controllers, and troubleshooting how to install a solar system. As time permits, the seminar will also cover practical integration of a LiFePO4 battery bank.
