Captain Cheryl Duvall is President of CAPCA (Chesapeake Area Professional Captains Association) and holds a USCG Masters license up to 100 gross tons with auxiliary sail. She has more than 5,000 nautical miles of bluewater and coastal sailing, between Maine and Florida, Bermuda, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean. She also holds an RYA Inland Waterways Helmsman’s Certificate for barges up to 65 feet.

After her long-distance cruising experience to Florida in 2015, Cheryl became a licensed captain and continues to build her sailing experience with offshore passages and coastal cruising. She lives in Annapolis MD and frequently sails her Gozzard 44 SV Belle Bateau on the Chesapeake Bay and beyond. She enjoys writing about her sailing adventures for SpinSheet magazine and is a frequent speaker at yacht clubs and boat shows. You may also see her at the helm of Watermark’s Miss Anne tour boat in the Annapolis harbor.
