Captain Deb and her husband, Hugh, traded their Boise, Idaho home in 2014. Deb led an award-winning Sales & Marketing company for 21 years and sold it in 2016. For the past 9.5 years, they have lived aboard their Beneteau Oceanis 381, S/V Simplicity, full-time. Their sailing adventures span the West Coast of the United States—from Seattle and Puget Sound to the San Juans and San Diego; across the Gulf and Atlantic coasts—from Houston to Florida, with stops in Pensacola and Key West, up to Maine. They enjoyed two years of extensive Bahamian island cruising (the Abacos, Eleuthera, and Exumas) and most recently sailed to the Turks and Caicos, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and onward toward Grenada. Their journeys have taken them west to the ABC Islands, then to Colombia and Panama. To date, they have logged over 32,000 nautical miles along the Pacific, Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic East Coast, and Caribbean Sea, with Panama serving as a part-time home base.
Captain Deb’s current focus is helping fellow sea lovers gain confidence on their vessels through courses for every skill level. She is a full-time Certified High-Performance Coach (certified by Brendon Burchard) and an advanced Certified Transformation Life Coach through the Brave Thinking Institute. Her students describe her teaching as easy to learn from, fun, and highly engaging. Deb is the Founder and Owner of Sailing and Boating LLC, where she has developed curricula, Women’s Retreats, and Couples Coaching to support new or returning boaters in achieving safe, joyful experiences on the water.
